— Warwick Girls Lacrosse, Inc., a new girls athletic program in Warwick, is accepting registration for girls in grades Kindergarten-8th grade.
The girl’s lacrosse program has been in existence for many years but was a division of the boy’s youth lacrosse program.
More than 80 girls last seasonThe girl’s division grew to more than 80 girls last season with the help of Warwick Youth Lacrosse and Warwick Valley Wildcats Lacrosse.
The boy’s program has been an integral part in helping the girl’s lacrosse division this past year, however due to the growth and awareness of the girl’s lacrosse program in our communities, the girls have become their own organization.
“Our goal is to increase the awareness of the fastest growing sport in our country to this community," said Summer Mangels, president of Warwick Girls Lacrosse. "We want our players to increase their confidence, make friends, have fun and improve their athleticism."
Warwick Girls Lacrosse registration is now open. You can visit www.warwickgirlslacrosse.com to register.
Experienced coachesThe girl’s lacrosse program has a team of highly dedicated and experienced coaches that have played lacrosse and/or other sports in high school and college, are U.S. Lacrosse certified, have coached at the varsity level and share the common goal of developing the girls to reach their potential.
“We really want to be a feeder program for the Warwick Valley High School Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Lacrosse athletic program, helping to continue to put Warwick Valley High School on the map as a powerhouse girl’s lacrosse program in this part of New York” said Jennifer Sansone, treasurer of Warwick Girls Lacrosse.
Playing opportunities begin in JanuaryThe girl’s lacrosse season runs from April-June, with indoor playing opportunities from January-March.
The Kindergarten-2nd graders practice once a week and will have several scrimmages.
Grades 3-8th practice twice a week, play games, and participate in tournaments.
Warwick Girls Lacrosse is committed to growing their program and are looking forward to incredible success in the future. The program is geared towars learning, team building and, most of all, having fun.
