Putting the cart behind the horse

WARWICK - Senator Morahan gave Winslow Therapeutic Centers “Healing With Horses” program a grant for $8,000, which was an item grant to secure an adaptive driving cart for therapeutic driving services. Therapeutic driving, whose benefits are similar to therapeutic riding, enables a person in a wheelchair to ride in the cart being pulled by a horse, while receiving the benefits of the multidimensional movements of the horse. This helps the rider build muscle, strength and balance. Fred Klepper is currently training to become a Therapeutic Driving Instructor through the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association. For more information, call 986-6686.
