Phillipa Spencer is the best long jumper

    Chester — Phillipa Courtnay Spencer of Chester came in first in the girls’ long jump during the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association championship games held in West Point on Feb. 18. Spencer, 17, is a senior John S. Burke High School in Goshen. She is ranked first in Section 9 schools for Orange County, Sullivan County, and parts of Dutchess County. She is ranked 31st in New York State high School long jumpers. This past weekend she was the top long jump qualifier to represent Section 9 at the New York State High School meet at Cornell University this Saturday. She is the daughter of Noel Spencer, county legislator in District 8 and a former Town of Chester councilman, and Patricia Spencer.
