Pee Wees take second in state hockey tournament

    Rochester - The Bear Mountain Bears captured second place in the New York State Pee Wee Ice Hockey Championship held in Rochester on the weekend of March 3-5, after losing a heart-breaker in the championship game, 3-1, to the TriCounty Eagles. Chris Murphy of Chester led the Bears with seven goals and two assists in the five-game series. Offensively, Rob Debellonia, Mark Knowlton, Steven D’Alisera, Joey Renza, JD Morris, Mark McAteer, Mike McAteer, Mike Marino and Nick Haggerty kept the pressure on the opposition throughout the series. The solid defense was led by Dan Tooma, Evan Froehlich, Anthony Cardone, Austin Garvey, Chris Lozinak and Matt Nelson. Alex Marino and Connor Doran were stellar in the net. In addition to placing second in the states, the Bears also won the Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Pee Wee A tournament as well as the capturing the Hudson Valley League Championship.
