No need to be a coach potato this winter
Goshen offers indoor sports for youth and adults Goshen It is time to register for winter basketball and volleyball programs for youth and adults. The programs are sponsored by the Goshen recreation commission. Youth and teen basketball The youth basketball program is for girls and boys in grades 3 through 8. The program directors are Matthew Quick and Brian Williams. Now underway, the program is held every Monday and Thursday night through March 30 according to the following schedule: 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. boys and girls in grades 3 and 4 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. boys in grades 5 and 6 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. girls in grades 5, 6, 7, 8 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. boys in grades 7 and 8 The fee is $60 for Goshen residents, $85 for nonresidents. The teen program is for girls and boys in grades 9 through 12. The program will be held every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., from Jan. 7 through March 25. The program director is Kelly Skelly. The fee is $50 for Goshen residents, $70 for nonresidents. Registrations will be accepted until the end of December for both programs. Adult basketball and volleyball The adult winter programs are for friendly competition and exercise among neighbors. Men’s evening basketball will be held every Wednesday and Thursday at BOCES’s Resnick Gym with program director Gary Ayd. Men over age 30 will play from 7 to 8 p.m. Men under 30 will play from 8 to 9 p.m. There will be two sessions. Session 1 is underway and extends through Jan. 26. Session 2 is from Feb. 8 to March 30. The fee is $25 for Goshen residents, $35 for nonresidents. Co-ed evening volleyball will be held every Wednesday at C.J. Hooker Middle School from 7 to 9 p.m., Jan. 4 to March 29. The fee is $25 for Goshen residents, $35 for nonresidents. Coming in early 2006 are step and aerobic classes. Watch this paper for details.
