Monroe Senior Softball League results through May 19

    Monroe - Pro Motion won two games this past week. In the first game, Ricky Beam’s bat woke up and he lead the offense with two doubles, three singles and four RBIs as Pro Motion got past Billy Ball by a score of 15-14. Warren Clendemy and Brian Cicoria chipped in with three RBIs apiece and Paul Leahy got the save in his first appearance. In their second game, Pro Motion defeated Brazen Head 14-13 in a see-saw battle. The winners came from behind twice and were led by newcomer Nick Santoro, who went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Beams stayed hot, chipping in two RBIs and three runs scored. Leahy got the win after a rocky start when he finally settled and held off the Brazen Head’s strong offense. In other league action: • Budweiser drew first blood on their new arch rival, The Afterdeck, beating them 14-7 on Friday night. Dave Degrote pitched his second complete game, allowing just seven runs on seven hits to limit the hot-hitting Afterdeck line-up. Chuck Todd continued his monstrous hitting, going 3 for 4 with 7 RBIs. He hit a grand slam in the second inning and a three-run homer in the sixth inning, which contributed to half of the Budboys’ total offense. Newcomer Tony Casilla went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and Howie Landesberg was 2 for 3. Matty Casserly also contributed, going 1 for 2 while getting on base three times and scoring three runs. Peter Larkin also went 2 for 3. For Afterdeck, Mike Kelly hit a three-run home run. • Tommy D’s won their first game of the year after two losses by defeating C.B. Trucking 13-0. Tommy Gilbert was masterful on the mound, allowing only one hit after retiring the first 13 batters he faced. Dave Krawczyk hit a grand slam and knocked in five runs and Dave Laney added three hits. John Davidson had two hits and an RBI and Kevin Pulsifer reached base all four times at bat with two hits, two walks - and two RBIs. • The Captain’s Table continued their high-octane offense with a 17-12 win over Master Chimney. Chuck Fernandez led the way with a three-run and two-run homers. Rick Sternkopf drove in five runs and Ron Vallore added 4 RBIs. Kevin Gannon pitched the win.
