Monroe Senior Softball League results through Aug. 18

    Monroe - It was a game for the long ball. Jim Scully, Jim Hogankamp, Pete Pisacano and Marty Diamond (two) all went yard as Loyal Tire defeated Wallace & Berry 14-10. Loyal Tire rallied back from a 10-5 deficit with back-to-back-to-back homers from Pete Pisacano, Marty Diamond and Jim Hogankamp and then loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning when Marty Diamond hit a walk-off grand slam to give Loyal Tire the win. In other league action: • JB McMinnnions defeated Master Chimney 15-7. JB’s dusted off Richie Robinson and placed him on the mound for the injured Mike Dowen and he responded with the win to keep JB’s fading playoff hopes alive. The slumbering bats finally awoke with Jerry Jefferson’s three hits and a three-run homerun from Jon “Sega” Lebda and a grand slam from Tom “Delux 247” Scanlon. • Master Chimney kept its playoff hopes alive with an 11-2 win over CB Trucking. Master’s offense was led by Dean Sefrin who went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. Nick Pagano and Tim Haines played great defense behind the pitching of Bob Klopchin. Pagano and Haines also contributed with the bat. Pagano went 4-4 and scored four times. Haines was 3-4, including an RBI triple. • Monroe Jeweler’s/Jay’s Deli defeated Loyal Tire 13-12 in eight innings. Eddie Lozado had the game-winning hit and Bill Austin, who added three hits, was the winning pitcher. • Nebrasky Plumbing & Heating defeated Monroe Temple 16-2. Ray Klopchin hit a home run and a double while Marc Kiviat had three hits, including a bases-clearing triple. Joe Mihok pitched his third consecutive win. • In their final game of the regular season, Pro Motion defeated Nebrasky Plumbing 19-13 to clinch first place in the C division. Eric Mayfield and Al Hall hit home runs and Phil Mastonardi went 3-4. The three contributed four RBIs apiece. Rick Hershener earned the complete game victory and had some spectacular defensive plays. • Budweiser defeated the captains Table 12-2 and Wallace & Berry beat Master Chimney 5-0. The playoffs are scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 28 but as of this date the pairings have not been finalized. Please check the league Web site at www.monroesl.com for updates later in week.
