Monroe - In their second meeting of the season, Pro Motion defeated FGFP 14-2. Rich Hershnener went the distance, allowing only two runs. Phil Mastonardi had two triples, Amos Gulden went 2-3 with two RBIs and Eric Yuneman stayed hot going 3-4 with three RBIs. In other league action: • Tommy D’s offense finally woke with a 14-11 win over arch rival J.B. McMinnions. The first four batters in D’s lineup went a combined 12-16 with 10 RBIs. Dave Krawczyk continued his hot hitting with three hits and five RBIs; Nick Sansalone had four hits and three RBIs and John Lawson had three hits and three runs scored. Also adding to the 18-hit outburst were John Davidson (two hits, two RBIs), Dave Cabassa (two doubles) and Tim Gansrow (two hits, one run). Tom Gilbert pitched the win. For J.B.’s, Rich Robinson hit a long home run. • The Afterdeck, behind the pitching of Papo Rodriguez, defeated Loyal Tire by the score of 11-2. Mike Strohmeier went 3-3 with a home run and four RBIs and Scott Goldstein continued his torrid hitting, going 2-4 with a home run - his third of the year - and two RBIs. John Degennaro and Joe Picone also chipped with two hits and two runs scored each. Softball legend Jerry Aherne tripled and scored for Loyal Tire. • Budweiser won two games this past week to take over sole possession of first place in the A Division. In the first game, Dave DeGrote and Alex Jamieson combined to pitch the Bud Boys to a 13-0 win over Monroe Jewelers/Jay’s Deli. In game two, Budweiser came from behind to defeat their nemesis, the Captains Table, 12-11. After falling behind 3-0 - due in large part to the Table’s John Murray hitting a monster home run - the Bud Boys rallied for eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Frank Moore provided the big shot with a grand slam home run. The Table came back to tie in the fifth but Budweiser rallied for four more runs. Great relief pitching of Alex Jamieson slammed the door on the Table. • Jimmy Hogankamp, Pete Pisacano and Marty Diamond homered to help lead Loyal Tire to a 12-5 victory over CB Trucking. Neil Hoyt pitched the complete-game victory and was aided defensively by Steve Smith and Mike Gregory. Pizzy and Marty Diamond went back to back in the fifth inning.
