Warwick - Warwick Fire’s winning streak came to a halt last Sunday against Middletown, the #1 ranked U11 boys team in the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League. Middletown outplayed the Fire in the first half, scoring four goals, but the Warwick boys came back strong in the second half. Phillip Goska scored the first goal, catching the keeper looking the other way. Nick Blomfield scored the next two goals, both on penalty kicks. The Fire’s defense held Middletown to only one more goal, but the offense could not connect for another goal against players from the Olympic Development Team. Jamie Eigo made two attempts, shooting just wide of the goal, and Nick Blomfield had another chance with a penalty kick, but the wind carried it away from the net. The final score was Middletown 5, Warwick Fire 3. The Fire’s next game is against Eastern Pike in Matamoras, Pa., on Sunday, Nov. 6, at 1:15 p.m.
