LifePlex offers ‘Smart Fit'

    Monroe — LifePlex Health Club will sponsor a series of education and informational programs, called “Smart Fit: Reaching & Teaching the Community.” Each month, LifePlex will host special seminars and classes, many with guest speakers, offered to both members and nonmembers, in areas of fitness, wellness and disease prevention, self defense, CPR certification, and more. The sessions are posted at the club, and at www.LifePlexMonroe.com. On Tuesdays, “Talk Your Weigh Healthy” is held at 4 p.m., and “Eating Disorders and Recovery” at 4:45 p.m. The open discussion is led by Lisa Shina, C.S.W. No registration is required. On the second Thursday and third Sunday of the month, “Fitness Floor 101” is held at 11 a.m., led by a certified personal trainer. The class is an introduction to fitness equipment, floor training, or refreshing workouts. Registration is required, and nonmembers pay $5. In May, “Yoga for Children” will be introduced for middle school aged children to learn Yoga postures, creative movement, and relaxation techniques, and improve physical strength and flexibility. The health club has operated in Monroe since 2000, offering a full array of exercise equipment and classes for its members, including aerobics, SPIN, Pilates, and Yoga. A team of personal trainers help members stay healthy and fit through exercise, nutritional counseling, and strength training. The club also offers youth fitness, student rates, free attended child care, lockers, and sauna and steam room. The club is located at 785 Route 17M in Monroe. For more information, call 782-2271.
