Lady Ratz win featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter

FLORIDA — The Lady Ratz seventh-grade basketball team of Florida won the recent GymRat Challenge held at the University of Albany, finishing 5-0.
Coached by Dustin Van Lieu, team members come from Monroe, Florida, Chester, Goshen, Warwick and Wallkill.
The 35-33 victory in the final was highlighted by a half-court, buzzer-beating shot that not only won the tournament for the Lady Ratz, but was also featured on ESPN’s SportsCenter as the Number 2 Top Play for Sunday, June 17.
One of the largest annual youth basketball tournaments in the country, the GymRat Challenge is also one of four U.S. Open Basketball Championship qualifiers for the national tournament being held in Westfield, Indiana in July.
The team is raising the funds to send the team to the Zero Gravity Tournament being held in Orlando, Florida, on July 23-25.
