Jockey Hollow Pony Club sweeps regional rally

Hackettstown, N.J. - The Jockey Hollow Pony Club cleaned up at the annual United States Pony Club’s Regional Quiz Rally competition last Saturday delivering first, second and third place in the senior divisions and a second in the Tadpole division. The USPC holds these rallies through out the entire country as a means to allow its members to qualify to compete at the national level. The Quiz Rally is a competition among pony clubbers whereby a series of tests of knowledge in various equine disciplines are administered in a day-long event. From basic horse sense, and practical horse knowledge to advanced clinical subjects are covered in various tests. Nineteen teams across seven cubs competed in three divisions. The Jockey Hollow Pony Club’s Senior Division includes Kim Gurda, Emma Crone, Christine Baruffaldi, Olivia DeBlanco, Katie Cahill, Jess Gurda, Bonnie Jarvis and Brielle LaSecla. In the Beginner or Tadpoles, Division are Camille Lieberman, Emily Michelini and Gabrielle Pasquale. Last year JHPC held a membership drive to grow the club. Most of the competitors are new to JHPC and the USPC, coming from Whisper Wind Farm. They work out with Nina Lieberman, an accomplished pony clubber herself, who provides guidance and direction in the proper care and handling of horses, according to Jennifer Pasquale, the club’s district commissioner. Lieberman was recently appointed as the Local Instructional Coordinator, working with Pasquale and Linda Mancini, the club’s head coach and trainer.
