Warwick - The Warwick Wild Fury U16 girls travel soccer team finished the past season in first place in the U16G - # 1 Crossover Division of the East Hudson/Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League. The Wild Fury ended the league play with a record of 8-1-0, outscoring other teams 27-4 and shutting out their opponents in seven of the nine league games. The team also participated in tournaments in which they competed against premier teams from as far away as Vermont. Including the tournament play, the Wild Fury ended the past outdoor season with an overall record of 8-2-3. In the 13 games, the Wild Fury offense scored 32 goals while the defense surrendered only 10. Throughout the season, the team fielded a strong offense with 11 different players contributing to the scoring. Julie Drevitson lead the team with six goals, followed closely by Shannon Allan and Siobhan Brady with four each. A strong center mid-field consisting of Anna Bisaro and Bridget Allan, along with stopper Lara Tomich, were able to keep the ball in the opponent’s end for most of each game. That created numerous scoring chances for the outside midfielders and strikers. The defense, consisting of sweeper Marino Bisaro, fullbacks Lucy Hamling and Katie Stage and keepers Emily Shields and Ally Snigur, was able to turn away most attacks when the ball got in to the Wild Fury’s end. A strong roster allowed substitutes Meg Chester, Katlyn Chester, Meg Brady, Jackie Cornine, Lauren Morgiewicz, Kelsey Hilley, Lauren Kohler, Sarah Harrison, Cassie Searle, Ali Riedel and Siobhan Ward to contribute to the team’s success by scoring 11 goals throughout the season. Coaches Paul Bisaro, Doug Stage and Craig Shields look forward to watching the girls play Varsity and JV soccer for Warwick Valley High School during the fall season and await the start of the indoor winter season.
