‘Horseman's Ball' to benefit Winslow Center Oct. 14

Warwick — Winslow Therapeutic Center’s healing-with-horses facility atop Mount Peter will be transformed at 6 p.m. on Oct. 14 into a Venetian paradise for the “Horseman’s Ball, a Venetian Masquerade.” This event, organized and chaired by Desiree Shaughnessy of Sugarloaf, and a team of women on the Horseman’s Ball Benefits Committee, is designed to support and commemorate Winslow’s 32 years of service helping children and adults with special needs through therapeutic horseback riding. More than 500 people are expected to attend The Horseman’s Ball. Cocktail hour will feature a full bar and a selection of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. From 7:30-7:45 p.m, guests will watch a Therapeutic Horseback Riding demonstration in the center ring, followed by a plated sit-down dinner. A silent and live auction will take place and will include luxury items such as, a romantic trip to Italy, artwork, designer clothing, Tea for Twenty from Pamela’s Traveling Feast, a Minerals Spa Package, an Interior Design Consultation and more. “The Winslow Award” will be presented to Louis G. Marquet of Leyland Development Corp, LLC., who also is a member of Winslow’s board of directors. This award honors an individual or organization whose value and concern for human life serves as an inspiration to others.
