CHESTER-Kara Graves, a senior at Chester Academy, ended her amateur gymnastics career on May 15 by becoming the U.S. Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs platinum-level state champion. Graves began training at the age of five at Kennett's School of Gymnastics. She went on to join the USA Gymnastics program and competed such events as "The I Love New York Cup," where she routinely placed on floor exercise, vault, and balance beam. The five-time member of the Empire State Games' Hudson Valley team trains at Sports, Fitness, and Fun in Florida. After graduation she will be attending SUNY Cortland to compete for the Cortland Red Dragons.
