Goshen student competes in Aqua Gems swim meet

    GOSHEN — Goshen High School student Ryosuke Kameyama competed in the Aqua Gems Swim Club of Warwick’s first official USS meet of the season, held Nov. 18 to 20. During the three-day meet, Kameyama took gold in three individual events. On the first day of the meet, Kameyama placed first in the Men’s Open 1,000-Yard Freestyle at a time of 10:15.37. He improved his best record and the team record by more than four seconds. The next day, Kameyama took gold again in the Open Men’s 100-Yard Freestyle, finishing at 49.42. Kameyama also won the Open Men’s 200-Yard Backstroke with a finishing time of 2:06.46, and improved his best record by almost one second. In addition, Kameyama finished first in the fourth leg of the Open Men’s 200-yard Freestyle Relay, with a time of 1:37.48. Kameyama is ranked in the top ten of several Metro Region Open Men competitions for the early part of the 2005-06 short season. They are as follows: • 100 yard freestyle: sixth place • 200 yard freestyle: ninth place • 500 yard freestyle: ninth place • 1,000 yard freestyle: eighth place • 400 yard individual medley: tenth place
