Goshen defeats Lewisboro in under 17 soccer
Goshen - The Goshen Under 17 Girls Soccer Team raised its record to 4-2, defeating Lewisboro 4-3 in an exciting game. Erin Ortiz opened the scoring midway in the first half with an assist from Carly Jung. Ten minutes later it was Kristina Pereira making it 2-0 on a penalty kick. Lewisboro then scored twice tying the score in the final minutes of the half. Goshen came out strong in the second half, putting pressure on from the outset. It was Ortiz who again broke through again, scoring off a cross from Pereira. Five minutes later Ortiz scored her third goal, again from a Pereira feed. Lewisboro scored one minute later, bring the score to 4-3. Goshen goalkeeper Kathleen Payne stopped a penalty kick with 3 minutes remaining to seal the victory. Kelly Stephens, Marissa Klejbuk, and Taylor Siracusa played exceptional defense, while Jung control the midfield. Payne was solid in goal, stopping 15 shots. (Submitted by Luke Pereira)
