Golfer Meghan Ryan named Warwick Valley’s ‘Student–Athlete of the Week’

WARWICK — Junior Meghan Ryan has been selected as the Warwick Valley High School “Student-Athlete of the Week” through the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.

Meghan is a two-sport athlete (golf and soccer) won the Section 9 Women’s golf title, shooting a 38 (shortened round) and 79 (par 72) at Applegreen’s Golf Course in New Paltz.

She will be heading to the state championships this weekend. She will be accompanied by teammates Katie Krahulik (who finished second in the section) and Katie O’Reilly (who is the first alternate after finishing 10th this past weekend).

This marks the fourth time Meghan has qualified for the state championships. She participates in the Metropolitan Junior Golf Leagues in the summer.

Meghan is a strong student with a 90 grade point average. This year her course load includes AP U.S. History and Honors English. She will be attending New Vision’s next year to focus on education.

This year she was a member of the FBLA and Interact Club as well as a participant in the Diabetes Dance Marathon.

Meghan is the daughter of Peggy and Tom Ryan. She has an older sister, Mackenzie, and a younger brother Patrick, who is in the seventh grade.
