Golf outing to benefit historic preservation
WARWICK Friends of Long Pond Ironworks in West Milford, N.J. will hold their first annual Golf Outing to Benefit the Long Pond Ironworks Historic District Monday, Sept. 18 at Hickory Hill Golf Course, 156 Route 17A, in Warwick. The event will open at 8 a.m. with golfer registration and a complimentary continental breakfast. The shotgun start is at 9 a.m. “Hole in One,” “Longest Drive,” “Closest to the Pin,” and other prizes will be awarded at a 1:30 p.m. buffet luncheon. Registration for the Long Pond Ironworks benefit golf outing is now open. The fees are $100.00 per golfer or $400 for each foursome. The museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds from the golf outing will go toward preservation of the historic blast furnaces, ironworkers’ homes, and other structures located within the Long Pond Ironworks State Park Historic District in West Milford, N.J.. Long Pond Ironworks is listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places and is part of a National Historical Landmark district with Ringwood Manor in Ringwood, N.J. Those who do not play golf but would like to attend the 1:30 luncheon can do so for a “Lunch Only” cost of $30.
