Former All-American pitcher joins Frozen Ropes softball staff

CHESTER Blaire Porter, the three-time North East Conference Pitcher of the Year at LIU and former pitching coach at her alma mater, will bring her national pitching reputation to Frozen Ropes at the Rock Sports Park in Chester.
The career record for wins and strikeouts at LIU will oversee the pitching programs at all Frozen Ropes locations and help train high school level players in the Hudson Valley area.
Porter will also act as a College Bound Counselor that assists high school players in selecting a college program that fits their academic and athletic goals.
After ending her playing career, Porter was named pitching coach in 2011 and led the LIU pitching staff to a 2011 NCAA Softball regional appearance before falling to the national powerhouse Arizona State.
During her career, she had the opportunity to pitch against some of the best college softball teams in the country, including Arizona State, Michigan, Ohio State, Purdue, Iowa, UMass, Washington, Arizona, Hofstra and Oregon.
Porter fired five no-hitters during her career with the Lady Black Birds and was selected to the NFCA All-Northeast Region First Team from 2008 to through 2010.
Featuring a fastball in the upper 60s and a drop and rise ball during her playing career, Porters ability to teach all pitches and increase velocity made her a player favorite with the LIU pitches and area high school pitchers she trained in the off-season.
