Florida U12 defeats West Point

The Florida U12 Soccer Team defeated West Point 3-2 in a match that could have gone either way. Florida scored first when Jonathan Campana crossed a pass over to Kyle Kennedy who quickly moved past a defender to score. West Point came back with an aggressive attack but could not easily penetrate the Florida defense. West Point had an opportunity to score during a penalty kick, but Goalkeeper Josh Hoare quickly blocked the kick and kept Florida to a 1-0 lead at the end of the first half. In the second half, Kevin O’Neill dribbled past West Point defenders to score the second goal of the game. West Point came back minutes later to score their first goal. Both teams continued putting pressure on each other and eventually Florida scored their third goal when Kevin O’Neill chipped a shot over West Point’s goalkeeper. West Point was able to score one more goal but Florida’s teamwork kept them from scoring again. (Photos by Kaly Campana)
