Florida U10 blanks Goshen, set to play Minisink Sunday

Florida - Florida U10 tallied another win against Goshen this past Sunday, coming on strong in the first half and keeping the Goshen defense on their toes. The first goal was scored by Devin Wood as he took a hard shot that the goalkeeper could not hold onto. Then, on a corner kick, Jake Kinley put a hard curve on the ball and scored. The Goshen defense tried again in the second half, but James Gardiner got behind the goalkeeper to give the Florida team a 3-0 win. The Florida defense, consisting of Tim Thompson, Joey Pillmeier and Zack Cuzo, shut Goshen’s offence down with very few attempts at goals. “I’m very happy to see each player improve weekly,” said Coach Doug Wood. “Defensemen Zachary Cuzo is the leading candidate for this season’s most improved. “The addition of coach John Gardiner also has really jump started the team,” Wood added. “John works really well with the children, and his knowledge of the game is unsurpassed.” The Florida team plays their last game at home against Minisink at noon on Sunday, Nov. 20. Earlier in the season Florida and Minisink played to a 1-1 tie.
