WARWICK-Winslow Therapeutic Center will hold its 31st annual gala, "An Evening Filled With Stars" on Saturday, Sept. 24. A reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by a silent auction, an auction of artist-painted cowboy boots, dinner, entertainment, dancing with a country and western band, and a performance by Winslow's Quadrille team. The auction will include new and used cowboy boots of all types and sizes, donated by supporters and painted by artists for the cause. During the week before the event, the boots will be on display in several merchants' windows throughout Warwick, including Style Council. For 31 years, the center has offered children and adults the opportunity to improve their physical, cognitive, social and emotional wellbeing by relating to horses in a therapeutic environment. On average, 150 riders, ranging from five to 93 years in age, are served each week, year round. Virginia Mazza, executive director emeritus at Winslow, will receive a "Winslow Award," which honors those who have demonstrated accomplishments and commitment, and who serve as an inspiration to others in the effort to maintain the dignity and rights of the physically, mentally, or emotionally challenged. Tickets are $90 per person. For more information, to donate an item for the auction, or volunteer, call 986-6686, or visit www.winslow.org.
