Even on the sidelines, Tom Smith makes an impact on M-W runners

    Central Valley - Thomas Smith, a member of the Boys Cross Country Team, has been named the Monroe-Woodbury student athlete of the week. “Although Tom has not been able to compete due to an injury, he has made himself a major asset to our team,” his coach, Jim Glover, said in making the announcement. “His leadership and guidance has been a strong influence on our freshman runners. He has been a tremendous help in keeping our large team organized and focused during meets and practice. Smith competed for the first time at the Section I Coaches Invitational on Oct. 21. Each week, the Monroe-Woodbury Athletic Department recognizes a student or students who maintain a high degree of success in all areas pertaining to academics while also demonstrating good citizenship and outstanding game sportsmanship.
