Defining student-athletics

Warwick High School is proud to select senior tennis and soccer player Wakeley Banker as this week's Bill Garcia Allstate Student–Athlete of the Week.
Wakeley and his tennis teammates defeated North Rockland this Weekend in the Wounded Warrior Challenge to secure the victory for Wildcat athletics.
Wakeley also was a standout center back and captain for the boys soccer team in the fall and earned All Section Recognition.
Wakeley carried a 102.5-weighted average this past quarter and has been recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar–athlete every season of his high school career.
Wakeley is a member of the National Honor Society and has accumulated more than 400 hours of community service.
His class load includes AP Calculus, AP Literature, AP Physics, AP US History and OCCC Algebra II, all for college credit.
He will be attending SUNY Polytechnic Institute this fall, majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in applied mathematics. He also will be playing college soccer for the Polytech Wildcats in the fall.
Wakeley is the son of Ann Marie and Wayne Banker of Warwick. His brother Brody is in the eighth grade at Warwick Valley Middle School.
