Crew team co-captain Jacob Gaydos is WVHS's 'Student-Athlete of the Week'

WARWICK — Warwick Valley High School is proud to honor Jacob Gaydos as this week’s "Student–Athlete of the Week" sponsored locally by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.
Jacob is co–captain of the varsity crew team and competes on the Men’s Varsity “8." He placed third in the New York State Championships and is a national qualifier for the Men’s Lightweight “4.”
Crew competes in both the fall and spring seasons and Jacob has been a key contributor for four years.
Jacob’s academic accomplishments rival the top students in the country. He is a recipient of the Junior Science Research Scholarship and took a research trip to Tel Aviv University this past summer for Bat Echolocation.
He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society Treasurer, Elementary Odyssey of the Mind Coach, Model UN Delegate and competes in the Orange County Academic League.
His weighted grade point average is 104.7 and is ranked third in his class of over 330 students.
Jacob also is a principal violinist and treasurer for the Chamber Strings.
He has applied to Brown University, Amherst College and Swarthmore College where he plans to study Molecular Biology.
Jacob is the son of Henry Gaydos and Christine Hosselet of Warwick. His brother Henry is in the seventh grade.
