Six Warwick Valley High School seniors announced Friday where they will attend college this fall at the Warwick football Signing Day on Friday, May 3. These athletes are:
Nicholas Garcia Senior student–athlete (Football)
National Letter of Commitment to attend Hartwick College in Oneonta.
Career highlights
• Two-year varsity football player and senior team leader for Warwick football.
• 38 total tackles and three sacks for the defense, including game-changing interception in three-overtime win vs. Minisink.
• Honorable mention Section 9 Football Insider Defense, Section Football Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-Star.
Recruited by Hartwick Head Football Coach Mark Carr. Garcia he will compete on the defensive side of the ball. The Hartwick Hawks compete in the Empire 8 Football Conference against Cortland, Buffalo State, Alfred University and St. John Fisher. Hawks finished with a record of 2–8 and look for Garcia to contribute early in his career on defense. Garcia plans to study Special Education as an undergraduate. He chose Hartwick over St. John Fisher.

• Academic schedule includes College Preparatory class in Chemistry, Civil Engineering and Architecture
Parents: Sharon and Bill Garcia of Warwick. His brother Rocco (2017) is a sophomore at Manhattan College.
Andre Ward Senior student–athlete (Football)
National Letter of Commitment to attend Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, Connecticut and compete as an offensive lineman for the WCSU Colonials.
Career highlights
• Two-year varsity starter and senior team captain for Warwick Football Wildcats. Currently over 1,000 pound total in three main lifts.
• Two-year starter at left tackle and blocked for 1,000-yard rusher, one of most dominant run blockers in past ten years.
• Selected All Division and All-Section IX Coaches All Star Team. Competed in Exceptional Senior football game
Recruited by Head Coach Joseph Loth. He will compete on the offensive side of the ball. Western Connecticut competes in the Freedom Football Conference with Norwich, Plymouth State, Bridgewater State, Westfield and UMass Dartmouth and finished the season 7-3. Ward plans to study Health Promotions and Exercise Sciences. He chose WCSU over Buffalo State and Wilkes University.
Academic accomplishments
• Grade Point Average of 85, earning a Regents Diploma.
• Received NYSPHSAA Scholar–Athlete Status.
• Active in Leadership Academy and Unified Basketball partner.
• Academic schedule includes Human Body Systems.
Parents: Angela Allen – Ward ’96 and Varick Ward ‘92 of Warwick. His brother Varick (23) is an outstanding athlete and sister Kiona Hoyen ‘13 graduated from Mt. St. Mary’s with a degree in nursing.
Grant Dolshun Senior student-athlete (Football, Baseball)
National Letter of Commitment to attend State University of New York at Morrisville and compete as a defensive lineman for the Morrisville Mustangs.
Career highlights
• Two-Year Varsity starter and Senior Defensive leader for Warwick Football Wildcats as a Defensive Tackle
• Compiled 52 total tackles, 2 sacks and 3 fumble recoveries in the 2018 season
• Selected Honorable Mention All Division by the Section IX Football Coaches Association
• Playing first base for the Warwick baseball team (three-year varsity player)
Recruited by Linebacker Coach Patrick Colligan. Dolshun will compete on the defensive side of the ball. Morrisville competes in the Empire 8 Football Conference with Cortland, Brockport, Hartwick, St. John Fisher and Alfred University. Dolshun plans to study Aquaculture (Marine Biology). He chose Morrisville over Western Connecticut and Alfred State.

• Overall Grade Point Average of 80.2, earning a New York State Regents Diploma.
• Recognized as a NYSPHSAA Scholar–Athlete for football 2018.
• Year Book Club, Weight Lifting Club .

Parents: Ed and Carol Dolshun of Warwick. His brother, Hunter is a graduate of UMBC.
Robert Maslanka
Senior student athlete (Football)
National Letter of Commitment to attend SUNY Cortland. Maslanka will compete as a football player for the Red Dragons.
Career Highlights
• Two-year varsity starter and team captain for the 2018 football team
• 87 total tackles, 45 unassisted tackles and three sacks as a linebacker.
• Wore #44 for the Wildcats.
• Section IX Football Coaches Association Section IX All-star and All League Selection on defense.
• Great leadership in weight room and off-season program.
Recruited by Dalton Maska, assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator. Maslanka will compete on the defensive side of the ball for the Red Dragons. Cortland competes in the Empire 8 Football Conference with Brockport State, Buffalo State, Alfred University and St. John Fisher where they finished with a 7-3 record and earned a Vacated Bowl Birth. Maslanka plans to study Physical Education, he chose Cortland over East Stroudsburg and Brockport.

Parents: Mary and Tom Maslanka of Pine Island. His brothers, John ‘15 and Tom ‘14 were outstanding student–athletes at Warwick Valley. His sister, Kristen Maslanka ‘15 ,graduates Delhi as Most Accomplished Volleyball Player in school history.
Kyle Rooney Senior Student-Athlete (Football)
National Letter of Commitment to attend Fairleigh Dickinson University of Madison, New Jersey. Rooney will compete as a Football Player for the FDU Devils that finished 7–3 in the 2018 season.
Career highlights• Two-year varsity starter and team captain for Warwick Football Wildcats.
• Senior year starting running back rushed. He rushed for 1,048 yards on 166 carries (averaged 6.3 yards per carry). Team leading scorer with 12 touchdowns.
• Defensive starter in 2017: 60 total tackles, 47 solo’s and 3 tackles for a loss as a defensive back.
• Selected to Exceptional Senior Game, Honorable Mention Section 9 Football Insider, Section Football Coaches Association All Section Team and All Division Team joins elite group of 1,000-yard rushers in 122 year history of Warwick football.
Recruited by Offensive Coordinator Jimmy Robertson for the FDU Devils and penciled in as a key contributor on offense. FDU competes Metro athletic conference and played in a 2018 ECAC Bowl Game. The MAC includes Stephenson, William Patterson, Wilkes and Widener. Rooney plans to study Communications. He chose FDU over Hartwick and Brockport.

Parents: Sean and Dina Rooney of Greenwood Lake. His brother Sean is studying to be a police officer; Jake is a 7th grade football and lacrosse player.
Gregory Sirico Senior student–athlete (Football and Lacrosse)
National Letter of Commitment to attend SUNY Cortland. Sirico will compete as a football player for the Division III power Cortland Red Dragons.
Career highlights
• Two-year varsity starter and team captain for Warwick Football 2018 Wildcats.
• Second leading receiver for the Wildcats; also contributed as a defensive back.
• Selected to Exceptional Senior Game, Honorable Mention Section 9 Football Coaches Association All Division Team.
• All Division Lacrosse Long Stick Midfielder 2018.
Recruited by Dalton Maska, assistant football coach and recruiting coordinator for the Cortland State Red Dragons. Sirico will compete as a receiver on offense. Cortland competes in the Division III Power Conference Empire 8 and finished 7-3 earning a post season bowl bid. Sirico plans to study Physical Education and chose Cortland over Brockport State, Springfield and Utica College.

• Grade Point Average of 92.92; ranked in the top 25 percent of his class.
• Two-year NYSPHSAA Scholar–Athlete (Football and Lacrosse).
• National Honor Society Member, Sojourner Truth Award recipient.
