Chris Deaver named ‘Student-Athlete’

— Senior Christopher Deaver is this week’s Warwick Valley High School “Student-Athlete of the Week” under the program sponsored by the Bill Garcia Allstate Insurance Agency.

Chris qualified for the state championships in Buffalo scoring 437.50 Points (11 dives) at the Shenendehowa Invitational, breaking through the state threshold of 420.50 points.

He finished fourth at the Shen Invitational, fourth at the Harvard Invitational and returns for his senior year as a two-time Section 9 diving finalist.

The young athlete maintains an 89.5 grade point average with a schedule that included Advanced Placement United States History for college credit in his junior year.

He has been recognized by the NYSPHSAA as a scholar–athlete for both diving and lacrosse (where he plays defense for the two-time Section 9 Finalists) for two years.

Chris belongs to the Elite Sports Training Club run by his Dive Coach Greg Voloshin and Lacrosse Coach Greg McElroy that works out at 6 a.m. before school three days a week.

He has applied for early decision to SUNY Maritime to study civil engineering and expects to learn his status soon. He will compete as a diver in college.

Chris is the son of Diane and Ken Deaver of Warwick.
