Chester 10 - Cornwall 1, May 8 The Chester Hambletonians outscored the Cornwall Dragons by a score of 10 to 1 in a non-league game played Monday Afternoon in Cornwall. Starting pitcher Kristin Jung pitched 4 scoreless innings allowing only 2 hits. Krissy Vanbenscoten, making her first appearance in 2 weeks after spraining her ankle came in to record the save for Chester allowing only 1 run on 2 hits. Amanda Benitez led Chester’s offense going 3-4 at the plate with a home run, 1 RBI and 3 runs scored. Brittany Clifford went 2 for 4 with a line drive home run to deep center field while Danielle Englehart tripled to center. Amanda McCarthy went 3 for 4 with a double, Jessica Lakis went 2 for 4 and Kristin Jung was 2 for 4 with a double. Kayla Cabacungan added a hit. May 9, 2006 Chester 17 - Tuxedo 3 Kristin Jung struck out 12 allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and went 3-for-4 with a home run, 4 RBI’s and three runs scored to lead host Chester to a 17 to 3 win over Tuxedo in a division V match up played Tuesday in Chester. Kayla Cabacungan went 3 for 5 with a double and 4 RBI’s. Amanda McCarthy was 2 for 3 on the day while Amanda Benitez, Brittany Clifford and Jessica Lakis each went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored. Danielle Englehart, Melissa Harrington, Katie Wile and Beth Pinsker all added hits for Chester. Ciara Scrobe, an 8th grader moved up from the JV team, recorded her first varsity hit. Nicole Defries hit a solo home run for Tuxedo. Chester is now 13-4 overall, 6-1 OCIAA and is currently ranked #11 in the state for C schools. May 11: Chester 20 - Fallsburg 0, May 11 Brittany Clifford led Chester to a 20-0 victory over Fallsburg in an OCIAA division V game played Thursday afternoon in Fallsburg. The game was called after 5 innings due to the 15 run rule. Clifford struck out 10 of 16 batters en route to her no-hit shut out victory. Kayla Cabacungan went 2 for 3 with 3 RBI’s, Amanda Benitez 2 for 4 with a double and 1 RBI, Kristin Jung 2 for 3 with 1 RBI, Danielle Englehart 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s, Caitlyn Rooney Tripled had 1 RBI and scored 3 runs. Brittany Clifford Doubled and had 1 RBI while Amanda McCarthy and Melissa Harrington singled. Chester has only given up 28 runs all season while scoring 178.
