All Bright Electric wins 2004 Tommy Dowd Memorial Softball Tournament

    All Bright Electric won 4 straight games to win the 2004 Tommy Dowd Memorial Softball Tournament. In the Championship game, Most Valuable Pitcher Tom Gilbert pitched a 2 hitter to lead All Bright to a 7-1 victory over J.B. McMinnions. Gilbert had a no-hitter into the 7th inning when back-to-back doubles put McMinnions on the board. Marcos Munoz had a 2 Run Home Run and Dave Krawzcak hit a solo shot to lead the offense. Greg O'Connor added a double and scored a run and Anthony Rizzi & Nick Sansalone added RBI's. In the earlier rounds, All Bright defeated TIS 8-3 behind Gilbert's pitching and the hitting of Tournament MVP Chris Fico (Home Run / 3 RBI's), Rizzi (2 hits) and Krawczak (2 RBI's). In game 2, All Bright edged The Fifth in 8 innings 15-13. Fico (4 hits / 3 RBI's / Home Run), Munoz (4 hits / 4 RBI's / Home Run), Joe Hughes (2 RBI's) and Dave Laney (3 hits) led the offense and Fico pitched the win. The Fifth was led by Pete Fortunes' monster Home Runs (one traveled over 300 feet). In the winner's bracket final, All Bright edged The American Legion (The Team Sportsmanship Winner) 6-5. Munoz and Sansalone homered to back the gutty pitching of Fico as he tied up the potent Legion offense. Tournament Defensive Player Ricky Beams excelled defensively for the Legion and Pete Lanaro smacked a pair of Doubles. In other 1st Round action, The Captains Table defeated Trail House 9-0 behind John Murrays 2 Home Runs, TIS edged Budweiser 5-4 behind Neil Riordan's Home Run, and The Brazen Head Pub defeated FGFP in extra innings 12-7 behind Mark Rosenthal's Grand Slam Home Run and the hitting of Joe Mihok (3 hits). In 2nd round games, American Legion defeated Brazen Head 15-2 behind the hitting of Rad Gonzalez (Home Run), Marty Diamond (key triple), Jimmy Skully (2 hits) and Shannon Gleeson (triple). J.B. McMinnions won over the Captains Table 12-3 and The Fifth shut out Tommy's Clan 8-0. In the losers bracket, Budweiser edged the Captains Table in the 7th inning 5-4, The Brazen Head edged Tommy's Clan 8-7 behind the hitting of Rosenthal (3 hits / 4 RBI's / 2 triples) and TIS defeated the Trail House 12-3. The 2nd round action of the winner's bracket saw the American Legion defeat J.B. McMinnions 7-4 behind the pitching of Dave Hein and the hitting of Lanaro, Gleeson and Diamond. In other losers bracket games Budweiser nipped FGFP 7-6, TIS shut out the Brazen Head 5-0, J.B. McMinnions edged TIS in 9 innings 5-4, the Fifth came from 10 runs down to upend Budweiser 19-11 and J.B. McMinnions defeated the Fifth 12-3. In the loser's bracket final, J.B.
