— Warwick Valley High School is proud to select senior Emily Welling as this week's Bill Garcia Allstate Student–Athlete of the Week.
Emily is a captain and plays forward for the 8–0 Lady Wildcat basketball team.
Her triple-double against Washingtonville - 21 points, 15 rebounds and 11 blocks - were key in the Wildcats' divisional victory over previously undefeated Washingtonville.
Emily is a two-sport standout (basketball and track and field). She also is the great granddaughter of former Athletic Director C. A. Morgan, in whose memory the high school's football field is named.
Emily’s athletic accomplishments are matched by her success in the classroom. She is currently ranked in the top 25 of her class and her weighted GPA for the first marking period was 100.47.
Her courses include Advanced Placement Government and Politics, AP Language and the OCCC Calculus.
Emily is a member of the National Honor Society, Leadership Academy and the Sports Medicine Club. She plans to study physical therapy and athletic training in college next year and play basketball.
Emily is the daughter of Frank and Kathryn Welling of Warwick. Her brother Morgan is a 2016 graduate of Warwick Valley High School.
