Speed limit reduced to 30 mph on Laroe Road
Chester The speed limit along the entire length of Laroe Road in the Town of Chester has been reduced to 30 mph because of renovations recently begun by the Orange County Department of Public Works. Laroe Road (County Route 45) is now a designated construction zone. Signs are posted at both ends of the Laroe and periodically along the roadway. The roadway was posted the end of July. In order to insure the safety of the construction crews and other motorists on the road, police are enforcing the speed limit stringently, said Brian Jarvis, chief of the Town of Chester Police Department. He encourages all motorists to use extra caution when traveling the road. Before construction began, Laroe had a speed limit of 45 mph from Kings Highway to Trout Brook Road, and a 30 mph speed limit from Trout Brook Road to Lakes Road. The construction project is scheduled to continue into 2007.
