Slow down around Stanley-Deming
new speed limit is 25 mph Warwick Better slow it down on the roads surrounding Stanley-Deming Park on South Street. The Village Board instituted a new speed limit on Parkway, Park Place and South Street from Route 17A all the way to Main Street 25 mph. The Village Board has tried to slow down traffic on streets throughout the village. Last summer, crosswalks along West Street were cut and painted to look like red bricks, giving a different sound and texture when driven over. Stop signs were installed on Forester Avenue near Park Avenue School to slow that traffic down. Last month, residents of South Street Extension came to the board asking that the speed limit be reduced on their street. They said people don't slow down even when they see someone walking with a baby carriage. "They zoom down South Street Extension to beat the light at Larry's," said one resident. "They go over 50 miles per hour." The village speed limit is just 30 mph, unless posted otherwise. Going 50 in a 30 mile per hour zone has big consequences, according to village attorney, Michael Meth six points and a ticket.
