Girl Scouts earn Gold Award for project that helps young people Warwick - Katie Miller and Rachel Kreiger of Warwick Girl Scout Troop 530 have earned the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest award in scouting, for a project that benefits young people within the community. The girls have started a discussion group for teens ages 14-18 who have serious or chronic illnesses or whose parent are ill. The name of their group is S.H.O.U.T., which stands for Students Helping Others Understand Themselves. The group meets on the second Friday of the month, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 95 Kings Highway in Warwick. They meet downstairs in room 101, which the young women completely renovated for the group. Their mediator is Deborah Guiliani, a school psychologist and the owner of Mulberry Tree Learning. Their mentor is registered nurse Nancy Hoverman. The next meeting is Friday, Nov. 9. The guest speaker will be Dr. Ann Studer of Chiropractic Life Center.
