Scout Sunday in Florida

| 20 Feb 2012 | 05:16

On Feb. 5, scouts of all ages came together to celebrate Scout Sunday at the Florida Presbyterian Church. Scout Sunday, the first one held in 1914, is designated as the Sunday before Feb. 8, which is the day that marks the founding of the Scouts in the United States. The Scout Law says that a "Scout is Reverent" and Scouts of all ages promise to do their "Duty to God," values which strengthen character. Boy Scouts from Troop 44 led the service with a flag ceremony joined by Cub Scouts from Pack 44. The Rev. George R. Doering Jr., a former scout himself, led the day’s services. The scouts of Troop 44 made a point of thanking the pastor as well as the congregation of the Florida Presbyterian Church for welcoming them on this day.
