Warwick — Boy Scout Troop 45 member and Life Scout Jared Olson presented his Eagle Scout project to the Village of Warwick board at its regular meeting earlier this month. Olson, who also volunteered at the middle school during tropical storm Irene, plans to install a drainage system at the monument in Veterans Memorial Park. “It’s a great project that’s been long overdue,” Mayor Michael Newhard said. Village DPW supervisor Bill Schmick will help Olson during the course of two weekends to dig, cut through road, lay pipe, fill and repave the area which has been plagued by poor drainage for years. Olson’s ambitious plans also include cleaning the monument. Olson begins work on Sept. 24.
