Scleroderma support group discusses medications
What works for what ails you? Warwick Those living with Scleroderma are very familiar with the use of medications. While there is no known cure for Scleroderma, there are many medications that can ease the pains and calm many of the symptoms of the disease. For many people, these medications make a big difference in their quality of life. For others, medications simply make their daily lives a bit more bearable. At the April 28 Scleroderma support group meeting, attendees will share the medications (both prescription and over-the-counter) that they have found works best for them. “While it is important to realize that what works for one person may not work for someone else, I truly believe that knowledge is power,” said June Bisel, meeting facilitator. “It is also important to remember that no medications should be taken without the advice or consent of a treating physician. The information obtained at our meetings are only meant to educate attendees and to give them talking points for discussions with their doctors.” Scleroderma support group meetings are held the fourth Saturday of every month at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital, in Warwick, from 10 a.m. until noon. Each month the group focuses on a different topic of concern, providing attendees with information as well as a chance to share their experiences and concerns. All are welcome.
