School celebrates Grandparents' Day

Tuxedo Park Tuxedo Park School welcomed more than 200 grandparents and “grandfriends” to the school on Tuesday, Nov. 22 for its annual Grandparents’ Day. After arriving at the school and receiving a special gift, grandparents and grandfriends had lunch. Then it was off to the classrooms, where teachers had planned special interactive activities for the students and their grandparents. Grandparents with more than one grandchild at the school had the added challenge of visiting all of the classrooms before the classroom visits ended. The day concluded with an assembly at which Primary, Middle and Upper School students presented vocal and instrumental performances. Jim Burger, headmaster of the school, presented awards to the grandparents who had the most number of grandchildren at the school, and to the grandparents who traveled the farthest to visit their grandchildren. Founded in 1900, Tuxedo Park School is one of the oldest schools in the country specializing in pre-secondary school education, and educates children from grades pre-kindergarten through nine. Serving families living in Bergen and Passaic counties in New Jersey, and Orange and Rockland counties in New York, the school is accredited by the New York State Association of Independent Schools. The school is located on Mountain Farm Road in Tuxedo Park. For more information, call 351-4737 or visit www.tuxedoparkschool.com.
