School Board takes care of end-of-year business

    Warwick - At its June 14 meeting, the Warwick Valley School Board certified the results of last month’s election and budget vote. The final results were: Proposition #1 (Budget): Yes - 1,762 No - 1,253 Proposition #2 (Buses): Yes - 1,559 No - 1,217 Election of board members: Dave Eaton: 1,732 John Connolly: 1,733 Samantha Sweeton : 2,216 In other business: In a unanimous vote, the board extend Schools Superintendent Raymond Bryant’s contract. The following teachers were recommended for tenure by their principals, and were approved by the school board: At the high school: Whitney Finnerty, Special Education; Erika Finch, Business; Timothy O’Dwyer, Guidance Counselor; Lindsay Quistgaard, English; Kevan Ottachian, social studies; Lisa Reece, science; Regina Ammurati, Special Education; Bethanne Peluso, math; Kristin Spring, science; Ann Megnin, Special Education. At the middle school: Danielle Nicoletti, Special Education; Barbara Waller, social studies; Victoria Pascal, Spanish. At the elementary grades - Katherine Caswell, Special Education, Kings; Kelly McGinn, music (choral); Peter Van De Water, music (band); Phillip Szumlaski, PE; and Carol Lempka, Special Education. School board members approved the establishment of a reserve fund for tax reductions. Superintendent Bryant received e-mail correspondence from Greenwood Lake concerning meeting with Warwick Valley to discuss consolidation.
