School board seeking citizen review committee

    Warwick - Any resident of the Warwick Valley School District who would like to serve on the citizens budget review committee for the 2006-07 school budget is asked to call District Clerk Dorothy Wilson at 987-3010 no later than Friday, Dec. 16. Meanwhile, School Board President Michael Meinhardt has released a schedule of meetings for the residents to participate in a citizens budget review committee for the development of the 2006-07 budget. The meetings are as follows at 7:30 p.m.: • Jan. 23, 2006, for the superintendent’s proposed budget and BOCES’ budget review (location to be determined). • Feb. 27, at the Dorothy C. Wilson Education Center, for a detailed budget review of instructional and operational appropriations (programs, transportation, operations and maintenance). • March 20, at the Dorothy C. Wilson Education Center, for a total budget status review and revenue estimates The Board of Education will adopt the budget on April 10. The district is operating on an auterity budget after voters twice defeated a $69.75 million proposal last spring and forced a reduction in spending of more than $1 million.
