Warwick - The Warwick Valley Rotary Club awarded three $1,000 scholarship to high school graduates as part of its 2006-07 installation program held recently at the Landmark Inn. Scholarship awards to high school students are a tradition at the Warwick Rotary installation dinners and this year was no exception. Faez Syad and Iris Fernandez were the recipients of this year’s scholarships as well as Dana Regan, who won the Silvio Petrucci scholarship award. All three $1,000 scholarships are open to all graduation high school students who live in the Town of Warwick, graduate from a New York State accredited public or private school and will be accepted in an accredited institution of higher learning. Outgoing president Ed Maddalena also installed Allen Quigley as the new president. The new slate of officers include Neil Sinclair, president-elect; Stan Martin, vice president; Alan Fernandez, recording secretary; Eric Heffler, corresponding secretary; Lisette Cuba, treasurer; and Ed Maddalena, assistant treasurer. Peppered with good humor, awards and gifts were given out to the past committee chairs in appreciation for their contributions and commitment to the club and its fund raising projects over the past year. Paul Weirich received the Rotarian of the Year Award for his many years of loyal service. He will be leaving the area and will be sorely missed. Honorary membership was bestowed on Jeanine Fogler for her outstanding adult leadership of the highly successful Interact Club at Warwick Valley High School, sponsored by the Warwick Valley Rotary Club.
