Warwick — Most people find that traveling a long distance to a shopping mall, hunting for a parking spot, and fighting crowds during the holiday season is more work than play. But for a group of residents from Schervier Pavilion Skilled Nursing Facility in Warwick, a trip to an indoor mall provided a change of pace and lots of fun on Thursday, Dec. 1. They traveled to nearby Middletown to spend a day at the Galleria at Crystal Run, a mall with ample facilities to accommodate wheelchairs. Some residents browsed and others decided to see the new movie ‘Walk the Line.” Later, they had lunch at Johnny Rockets restaurant. The trip put everyone in good spirits for the holidays, according to director of recreation Kari Call. “This is one of the most fun days of the year,” added resident Carol McCoy. All programs at Schervier Pavilion are designed to meet the psychosocial and physical needs of the residents, with activities that are not only enjoyable but also meet their needs.
