Santa Semana

Florida - This past Sunday, Palm Sunday, the first Spanish-speaking Mass was held at the Mission Church of St. Edward’s in the Village of Florida. Father Benjamin Palacios, missionary priest from Latin America, celebrated the mass en Espanol, with Father Patrick Buckley of St. Stephen’s Church for local Spanish-speaking residents, who are mostly from the Mexican community. The Palm Sunday Mass marks the beginning of the Santa Semana, or Holy Week. Local residents who volunteered as lectors and ushers and the Santa Anastasia Spanish Choir made this a very special Mass service.
