Sanfordville students work for the earth

Warwick - The students in Colin McLaughlin’s 5th grade PIE class and in Patricia Bauer’s BOCES class at Sanfordville Elementary School have been working together to make the earth a more beautiful place. In honor of Earth Day, the two classes sent a letter to Principal Roger Longfield requesting permission to clean up a little-used courtyard and plant flowers and vegetables. Longfield said he was happy to let the classes take over. For two days, the students weeded and turned over the soil in preparation for planting flowers. On the third day, the flowers came and were immediately planted. The classes worked together with great cooperation to get the job done. The courtyard is now being enjoyed by all, because of its fabulous beauty. Even the birds seem happier. Colin J. Maguire is the Warwick Advertiser’s cub reporter at Sanfordville Elementary.
