Sail on, Rebels

Greenwood Lake played host this week for the national Rebel sail boat regatta. Twenty-four two-person crews competed in the adult regatta, which was won by Skipper Paul Bryan of West Milford, N.J., and his son, David, who manages the Boston Sailing Center. The Rebels are 16-feet long with a main sail and a jib; depending on much - or how little - wind is available, the boats compete across four- to six-mile courses. John Ulff, a retired linotype operator who lived in Greenwood Lake for many years before moving to Rome, N.Y., displays the model of a Rebel sail boat that he carved from wood and was selling for $100.
