Rotarians name Treasure Hunt winners

WARWICK - Becky and Mike Tenckinck demonstrated their skills at assimilating clues to capture first-place prizes in the Warwick Valley Rotary Club’s Pirate Treasure Hunt that was held on Saturday, May 19. For their winning effort the Tenckincks will receive New York Yankees tickets, dinner for six cooked at home by Landmark owner and chef Michael DeMartino, four bottles of wine and $100 worth of food to go with the dinner plus a gift certificate for a free chiropractic session. Participants in the Pirate Treasure Hunt were given clues leading them to various locations in the Village of Warwick where additional clues were divulged. The treasure chests were hidden in the Town Park on Union Corners Road. Interact Club students from Warwick Valley High School dressed in pirate costumes assisted local Rotarians during the Pirate Treasure Hunt Alan Fernandez, a past president of the Warwick Rotary Club, chaired the event. Kelly and Colleen Gregus earned second-place honors. They will receive New York Mets tickets, a wine tasting at Brotherhood Winery, $50 jewelry gift certificates and gift certificates for music lessons. Placing third were Joe Cahill, Joe Jr. and Brendan Thomas. Their loot included “a basket of appliances,” necklace, a digital camera, an iPod and a gift certificate for Tae Kwan Do. Participating contributors included Warwick Appliances, Peck’s Wines and Liquors, Chosun Tae Kwan Do Academy, Liz’s Jewelry, Forever Jewelers, Mima’s, The Toy Chest, Village Music, Newhard’s Home Source, Dr. Maggie VerHagen, The Brotherhood Winery, Neil Sinclair, The Landmark Inn and the Doc Fry Community Center.
