Warwick - Rosita Gilsenan, the artist, designer and Warwick resident with a keen eye for elements that work well together, is the latest recipient of the Warwick in Bloom Certificate of Appreciation. Mayor Michael Newhard and several members of the committee presented the award to Gilsenan for her contributions to the beautification of Warwick, particularly to the courtyard on Railroad Avenue. In recent years, Railroad Avenue has become another shopping and tourism destination in the Village of Warwick. The courtyard on Railroad Avenue is a beautiful complement to the Railroad Green public garden area, just across the street. Gilsenan, who recently had an exhibition of her art at Port of Call Gallery, was born in Ireland, and received her college education in fine art, at the University of London. She eventually moved to Warwick where she had two daughters. This is the third Beautification Award presented by the Warwick in Bloom Committee. The first two honorees were the Warwick Valley Gardeners and the Zimmerli family, owners of Warwick Valley Auto Body on Main Street. Warwick in Bloom is an award-winning, independent, non-profit group of volunteers interested in beautifying the community and educating area residents about improving the quality of life. Its members share gardening ideas and information with people throughout the region. For more information, visit online at www.warwickinfo.net/wib.
