WARWICK - Katie Rudy wanted to celebrate her brother’s life and his love for cars. With the support of her parents, Gary and Cathy Rudy of Pine Island, and other volunteers, Rudy decided to organize the “Richard Jacob Rudy Memorial Car Show” in honor of her brother Richard who died in an automobile accident last year. The successful event was held on Sunday, Aug. 13, at Warwick Municipal Airport. Participants had been invited to bring their historic or classic car, truck or motorcycle to the airport. The pristine vehicles were then attractively displayed along the southwest end of the wide grass runway leading to Wickham Lake. And the icing on the cake was that the weather was picture perfect. “I wanted to plan a day to celebrate my brother’s life and love for cars, as well as help and support others by donating to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.” Rudy said. “The charity has a special meaning to our family.” Part of the proceeds from registration, donations, raffles and food sales at the Jacob Rudy Memorial Car Show will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The remainder will be used to establish a scholarship for students pursuing a career in auto mechanics in the Hudson Valley Career Academics Go Program. “I hope to keep the many memories of Rich very much alive,” said Rudy.
