WARWICK - Shoppers at Warwick’s ShopRite supermarket on Route 94 South have generally expressed favorable opinions about the store’s improvements officially introduced at a grand reopening on June 1. The significant changes, which began last March, included a new entrance, wider aisles, less clutter, additional natural and organic selections and more varieties of fresh produce. New features include a state-of-the-art cheese program staffed by employees qualified to help customers navigate their way through a large selection of imported and domestic cheeses. And the staff has been trained to answer questions about new items in other specialty departments. “The response has been terrific,” said Manager Seth Wertz. “The people love the openness of the aisles. It’s easier to shop and we’re committed to be customer friendly. We’re also grateful to the community for its support and we will continue to listen to the needs of our customers. We welcome all suggestions.” ShopRite supermarkets are members of Wakefern Food Corporation, a retailer-owned cooperative. Through the 200 stores, located throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware, ShopRite serves more than four million customers each week. Warwick’s ShopRite has been a long time supporter of the community. The supermarket supports fund raisers and community projects by donating products, service and cash to worthy charities and events as well as offering space outside the store for the sale of raffle tickets and the like. Dawson Motors wins top five award The Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union recently named Dawson Motors one of its top five of 100 dealers in the region. The award was based on the number of finance contracts approved for customers purchasing pre-owned automobiles. This year, Dawson Motors, located at 45 Oakland Ave. in Warwick, celebrated its 25th anniversary. In the 1970s owner Bill Dawson was manager first at Warwick Dodge and then at McSweeney Chevy-Olds in Warwick. In 1982 he decided to open his own shop in a four bay garage on Forester Avenue. The business quickly grew and additional bays or repair stations were added until Dawson and his wife, Linda managed to increase the size of their shop to 10 bays. Dawson Motors remained on Forester Avenue for 20 years and then five years ago moved to the vacated Stanley Chrysler dealership building at the intersection of Oakland Avenue and Galloway Road (Routes 17A and 94). The company offers full service automobile repairs and tire sales. Dawson Motors also puts each of its used cars through an extensive certification check-out for the up to 100,000 miles bumper-to-bumper warranty provided by a major warranty company. Call 986-8558. Artwork at Track 7 The Track 7 Postal Center at 5 First St., Warwick, is primarily known for its expert packing, US Postal services, mail box rentals, passport photos, copies and as an authorized shipping center for Federal Express and DHL. In addition to these services, owners Ken and Betsy Mitchell, who opened their business in 2006, have added a large number of collectible sports memorabilia and other retail items to their spacious and busy store. Last December, Warwick artist Julie English introduced a selection of hand crafted gift tags in the retail section. “People loved them,” said Betsy Mitchell. “This was the perfect place for gift tags at that time of year and we completely sold out.” Following up on that success, Track 7 now carries English’s paper collage greeting cards with hand crafted oversize envelopes and other artwork. “I learned to do this,” smiled English, “because my family always demanded handmade greeting cards.” Ladies Night Out Downtown Warwick Merchants are finalizing plans for the 11th Anniversary of their traditional celebration of “Ladies Night Out” and “Queen for a Day.” This year’s event is scheduled for Thursday evening, Aug. 21 and the applications for “Queen for a Day” need to be picked up and turned in as soon as possible.
