Rabbitt offers legislative internships
Goshen Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt (R-I-C-Greenwood Lake) has started an internship program in her district office for high school and college students. “The best way to get young people involved is to allow them to roll-up their sleeves and work alongside those people who are elected to office,” said Rabbitt. “It is my sincere hope that the people who intern in my office will see first-hand the good that can be done for the community and it will inspire them to continue to work in government.” The interns will help run Rabbitt’s district office in Goshen. While there, the interns will work with the assemblywoman’s staff to address constituent concerns, respond to constituent questions and help people navigate through New York state government. They will draft letters, research bills, write press releases and participate in community outreach activities. While these internships are unpaid, they will provide the interns with invaluable experience in learning the role of a district office in enabling the elected official to carry out their official duties. “The district office is essential because it gives constituents a local place to communicate to me their immediate needs, allowing me to take the necessary and appropriate action.,” Rabbitt said.
